iPad app interface designed for a field sales team managing multiple customer visits each day.

Custom App Development | Case Study

A custom field sales app built for a national team.

Charterhouse Mobility manufactures made-to-measure products sold in customers’ homes through a national team of field demonstrators. Each appointment involves multiple steps, from customer details and measurements through to photographs, quotations, signatures and visit outcomes.

Previously handled using paper forms and separate processes, we brought the workflow together within a custom field sales app that integrates directly with the CRM and Field Service Management systems we’ve developed for the business. Information collected in the field can reach the office immediately, helping the team process customer orders quickly and reducing the need to manually re-enter information.

Try it yourself

Fully designed interactive prototypes before anyone writes production code.

Every app project starts with an interactive prototype so we can validate the user experience before committing to production development. The people who’ll actually use the app can test it on the device they’ll be using, provide feedback and help us refine the experience before the full build begins.

How we work

Our app design and development process.

Every app development project is different, so we tailor our approach around the requirements of the business and its users. Most projects follow the five stages below.

01

Discovery in the real world

We shadow the people who’ll use the app, in the places they’ll actually use it, so we’re designing around real workflows rather than assumptions.

02

Clickable prototype

A working interactive prototype lets you test the key journeys, screens and interactions on the intended device before production development begins.

03

Design system

Typography, colour, spacing and reusable components are defined early, keeping the experience consistent as the app grows.

04

App development & integration

We build the production app and connect it with the systems your business already uses, testing synchronisation, poor connectivity and real-world failure scenarios along the way.

05

Rollout & support

We support launch with training, documentation and practical handover, then remain available for updates, improvements and ongoing technical support.

What affects app development cost? The main factors are the number of systems the app needs to integrate with, whether it needs to work offline, the amount of existing data involved and the number of different users, roles and workflows required. We scope each phase clearly before you commit to it.
Could this be your business?

Ready to start your app development project?

Whether you need an iOS or Android app, a field service system, internal business application or something completely bespoke, we start by understanding the problem you’re trying to solve and how the people using it actually work.

From there, we can prototype, test and develop a solution around your business, integrating with your existing systems where required.
